However, three years down the line, there was trouble in paradise, and the announcement was made that the missing land records were lost in the cyclone. The very thought of missing the records to floods strike hard as there were no floods, and the records were safe within the government premises. So the question arises. How can the records remain lost?
These facts, when released to the public, grabbed the attention of the media houses. The cost of one-acre land costs around Rs. 25 Crore and the vast amount of land (one lakh acres) in the equation, the media houses were talking about a sum above Rs. 1 Lakh Crore!
The growing attention and the attention of the media houses led the Chandrababu Naidu government to take a few damage control steps. However, despite the sheer attempt, the scale of the operation clearly indicated the role of the then chief minister. The incident dates back to the cyclone. The then chief minister took over the power of RDOs from the Revenue minister and stayed in Vizag city during the cyclone.
Now, the district collector stating that the records were hampered during the Hudhud time points fingers at the Chief Minister. A scandal of such a large scale highlights the role and knowledge of the Chief Minister and not just any minister or administrator.
The Fight Between The Ministers. An Attempt To Divert Attention?
To divert the fact, the CM forced a compromise between two of his ministers, namely – GantaSrinivasa Rao and Ch. AyyannaPathrudu. GantaSrinivasa Rao played an active role in the scam and has rivalry against Ch. AyyannaPathrudu. On the other hand, Ch. AyyannaPathrudu was adamant in exposing the minister.
On the other hand, to divert the attention further, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu commissioned a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was nothing but a wastage of time. Despite the commission, Mr. Chandrasekhar Naidu never took action against the culprits, while on the other hand, no action was ever taken on any of the culprits. All these developments indicated the role of the Chief Minister in the massive Vizag land scam and proved who is 420 in AP in news.
The SIT Committee and Inaction by the Government
Despite the pressure from the public and the other legal entities, Chandrasekhar Naidu did not submit the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). To add on top of it, only a mere 256-acre land was displayed to have been under scrutiny. The entire state watched the show as a desperate act of a Chief Minister to save the image of his party and fueled the entire scenario as an act of illicit fight between two individuals.
On the other hand, despite the Deputy Chief Minister’s announcement of having an open inquiry, the Chandrababu Naidu government appointed a three-member SIT bench that was carried out in private. The results were also not announced in public, and no action was taken as per the suggestions of the report. The following act highlighted the guilt and the wily intent of the then government and the extreme steps taken by the government.
The act not only affected thousands of families but as well as hampered the image of Vishkapatanam. The act was an organized loot in which every critical individual was a part of. From the members of the village panchayat to the highest levels of the ministry, these individuals played in hand on the glove and destroyed the sanity of politics. The followed method proved successful in regions like Bheemili, Anandapuram, Vishakapatnam Rural, and Pendurtimandals.
Even inland pooling, nepotism played its role. The lands of the influential individuals were exempted, and only the lands of the poor farmers were captured at meager prices. This highlights the real face of the TDP government and how it has evolved over the years with Chandrababu Naidu as its leader.
