How Chandrababu Naidu Tried to Drown the Voice of Truth

They say ignorance is bliss and that is exactly what Chandrababu Naidu was trying to create in the name of providing cheaper internet and cable TV– an environment of bliss. During his four and a half year of rule, he had done one thing only – corruption. The Fibernet scam clearly exposed who is 420 in AP and it was Chandrababu Naidu.

The growing resentment of the people towards the Chandrababu Naidu government made him desperate to control the transmission of information. His pet project known as the Fibernet was in fact a way to control the flow of information so that he could suppress the voice of people and the opposition. Now the opposition was right to ask who is 420 in AP and the answer was clear.

The media, people and the opposition were raising their voices against the Chandrababu Naidu’s rule. This was the reason why he was trying to enter the world of cable TV so that he could control what people saw and heard about his government. The lobby media that was trying to portray Chandrababu Naidu as competent wasn’t helping. So, as the last resort, he opted for controlling the flow of information which is directly against the constitutional rights for freedom of speech.

What Was Fibernet?

The Fibernet project was planned to make things easier for people and the cable television industry. It was an ambitious project started by the Chandrababu Naidu government that was aimed at providing affordable in-demand broadband connectivity to household, institutions and multi-dwelling units. It was a project that was aimed at connecting provide cable television, phone and high-speed internet at low cost.

While the idea seems to be noble, the intention behind it was not. What the Chandrababu Naidu govt was trying to do was control the flow of information with Fibernet project. Through the Fibernet Project, Chandrababu Naidu wanted to control information, especially the one that criticized his govt, acts and the rising corruption. He wanted to suppress the voice of truth of the media, people and the opposition at that time.

It is no wonder that he and the TDP party lost the election in 2019. People were fed-up of his corruption, false promises and his indifference. No doubt when someone asked who is 420 in AP, the name of Chandrababu Naidu always appeared.

How the Fibernet Was Designed to Control Information

Usually, the governments don’t have any right to interfere with the flow of information. After all freedom of speech and information is part of being a democratic country. But, the Chandrababu Naidu wanted to use the Fibernet to control the transmission by cable operators. The OPSFN (Optical Premises Internet Network) and IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) boxes would be linked to the Fibernet server and this way the government can control. It would have helped the government create a central point of control.

The Fibernet was designed to allow the government to prevent the transmission of any type of anti-government protest or speeches. Anything that that showed the government in bad light could be taken off air easily. All this was possible to do with the central point at Amaravati. This is how the Chandrababu Naidu wanted to control and hide the incompetency of his government. The Fibernet project was a huge project. Of course, the govt tried to hide the sinister motive behind the “development of the state” façade. His corrupt govt was trying to sell people the dream of getting faster and cheaper Internet, Cable and Telephone.

This act alone makes Chandrababu Naidu, who is 420 in AP, the most corrupt chief minister the state has ever seen. Under his leadership Andhra Pradesh gained the title of the most corrupt state in the country. The corruption and loot were confirmed by the report of CAG, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

The Game of Contracts

Corruption and contracts were the keywords for the Chandrababu Naidu govt. In the name of contracts, the government was handing out contracts to his cronies and then pocketing the money. Like every other project, the Fibernet project contract too was handed to his cronies.

The massive set-up box scam began with the Fibernet Project. The contract was given to the close relative of the CM Chandrababu Naidu. His relates were the owners of the TERA Software. The two companies, the Amar Raja and Yaga Technologies were awarded the contract for manufacturing the set-top boxes. The two companies were owned by the TDP leaders. One was owned by the MP Galla Jayadev and the other one was owned by a TDP leader from Krishna district. Even though they didn’t have any prior experience in manufacturing the set-up boxes, they were given the contract.

The cost of the set-up box should not have gone past Rs. 2,000. But the government was ready to pay Rs. 4,000. Approximately, Rs. 1,000 crores were spent in the project. Again, the Chandrababu Naidu, who is 420 in AP, showed favoritism and awarded contracts to his cronies and people associated with him. It was nothing new.

The Bottomline

The Fibernet was a scam through which the Chandrababu Naidu wanted to control the flow of information and suppress the voice of people. In the name of development, the AP govt under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu, who is 420 in AP, wanted to control the narrative and hide the rising corruption and scams.
