Chandrababu Naidu’s Expensive Foreign Trips Resulted In ZERO Investment

Foreign trips by the Chief Minister needs to bring in some investment in the state, especially when you are traveling on taxpayers’ money. These trips are not cheap, they are very expensive and good investment opportunities are expected from it. That is exactly what Chandrababu Naidu’s expensive foreign trips should have done, but it did not. All that happened during his 5 years of tenure as CM in Andhra Pradesh was empty talks. He promised investments and jobs, but nothing of sort happened. Once again Chandrababu Naidu proved who is 420 in AP.

The data shows that his foreign trips during his 2014-2019 tenure didn’t bring investment at all. After losing the 2019 election, all that he had left behind in the name of development was tall talks and nothing else. Like all his promises, these expensive foreign trips only looted the already weakened the state further. His actions have only proved who is 420 in AP and that’s him.

His Useless Foreign Trips

While he was the CM of the state, Chandrababu Naidu’s used to boost that “the state is overflowing with thousands of crores of investments and lakhs of jobs”. In reality, there was neither any major projects or jobs for the people. The only thing that came out of the trip was his luxurious trips to many foreign countries. According to the records, Chandrababu Naidu visited 13 countries that cost the state more than a hundred crore.

He spent more than 68 days in countries like Singapore, China, Japan, United Kingdom, United States, Dubai and Switzerland and more. These multiple visits to the countries should have benefited the state in a way, but it didn’t. No investment was made in the state in 5 years of his tenure as the CM of the newly divided state. One would think that these expensive trips were made to uplift the state, which was reeling under the pressure from the bifurcation. The loss of Hyderabad was huge and the people of the state were both suffering economically and emotionally. Chandrababu Naidu only proved who is 420 in AP with actions without any consequences.

Like all his projects in the State in the sectors like Power, water and IT sector, the foreign investment too was just a burden on the state. It is not hard to guess who is 420 in AP, as Chandrababu Naidu has already proved that he was one.

Talks and no Results

Chandrababu Naidu was painting a pretty picture when he was traveling around the world in the name of attracting investment. Wherever he went, he made tall statement which were just empty words. For instance, he attended the World Economic Forum in Davos for four years. One of the major claims he made after the forum was that the AP govt was in talks with the Saudi Aramco to set up an oil refinery in the State. Again, nothing happened even after the visit of the representatives from Saudi Arabia.

Here are some examples of zero results of all his expensive foreign trips:

  • Next, he claimed to have made deals with Singapore companies for developing the capital city master plan. At least that’s what he said as no funds were received were for making the Bhavani Island in Vijayawada just like the famous Sentosa Island in Singapore. Many were not happy with the decision of giving such a major project to Singapore companies.
  • His Japan tour didn’t bring any investment to the state, but Chandrababu Naidu announced that the Japanese language will be introduced in the state universities. He had also promised to make Amaravati like Shanghai when he was in China and like Tokyo when he was in Japan.
  • While he was on US tour, Chandrababu Naidu promised to build an Aero City in Visakhapatnam. As making false promises while he was in India wasn’t enough, he embarrassed himself, the state and the country when he said that he had been invited by the UNO for talk. It turned out that it was a lie and all he did was speak at an event that was organized by a private organization.
  • Then came the much talked about visit to Dubai in 2017 and 2018. The official statement was that the AP Govt was seeking an investment from Dubai based companies. Nothing happened investment wise, but did have a few financial transactions with Abu Dhabi industrialist BR Shetty, who also organized his tour and programs for the year 2017. Chandrababu Naidu made an unnecessary halt in Dubai while returning from Davos in 2018. It was unwanted as he was traveling with the public fund and not on his own expense.

With all these things, it is not hard to imagine who is 420 in AP.

The Burdensome Foreign Trips

While the foreign visits didn’t bring any investments, the trips surely burdened the state further more. His trips to other countries in years were expensive and resulted in a huge state’s revenue deficit. He never travelled in regular flights, instead he used special flight and chopper that were parked in Gannavaram Airport. The huge parking charges and the hotel charges for pilots were borne by the state government.

The former Chief Secretary Ajeya Kallam, one of the only few honest people who dared to expose the loot, wrote in his book ‘Melu Kolupu’ only using special flight. Additionally, the foreign tours of CRDA officials further put a lot of burden on the state’s economy which resulted in the formation of a special council for foreign tours.

A budget of Rs. 62 crores were allotted for Naidu’s worthless foreign tours and road shows. Now people can only decide who is 420 in AP. The unnecessary expenses by Chandrababu Naidu did nothing for the state, which was suffering while the CM was busy living a life of luxury. Chandrababu Naidu has proved again who is 420 in AP.

The Bottomline

The expensive foreign trips by Chandrababu Naidu between 2014 and 2018 made things worse for the state. The trips resulted in no return on investment and only added to the economic burden of the state. Just like all his promises and development projects, the foreign trips were only an excuse to loot the state. Now it’s easy to decide who is 420 in AP.
